Job Overview:
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Electrical Apprenticeship Technician (1st year) is responsible for performing general electrical duties on a project or service site. This includes electronic and mechanical repairs, in-house and on-site, and commissioning equipment as assigned. As an Electrical Apprentice Technician, you will gain hands-on experience through an electrician apprenticeship, contributing to your growth and understanding of the field.
Our technicians specialize in the Retail/Commercial Gas Stations, Cardlock/Bulk Petroleum sites, Carwashes, and Commercial/Industrial Electrical Services for Maintenance and Construction in Western Canada, Yukon & NWT.

What will you be doing?
- With training, electronic and mechanical repairs on-site and in-house, of equipment and technology as assigned in compliance with current industry codes, insurance and government regulations.
- With training, maintain strong customer relationships and hande service calls effectively.
- With training, plan for adequate tools and equipment necessary for efficient work.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Responsible to develop a strong technical knowledge of assigned equipment through on-the-job training and training programs.
- Ensure safe practices are being followed, including reviewing and complying with UFA/Bar W and clients’ Health, Safety and Environment Policies and Safe Work Practices and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
Are you qualified?
- High school diploma.
- Registered with Alberta AIT as an Indentured Electrical Apprentice in the apprenticeship program.
- Will be required to complete and be certified in CPCA PM1 Training.
- Ability to pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance performance including registering and successfully completing apprenticeship education and training through Electrical Trade Schools.
- Developing knowledge and experience in electrical, mechanical, and petroleum troubleshooting of technological challenges relative to electrical, electronic, and mechanical repairs.
- Developing good mathematical and mechanical aptitude with an analytical approach to problem solving.
- Physical strength, manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, efficient with hand tools, and an ability to work at heights.
- Developing knowledge of computerized machinery. Ability to interpret technical drawings and electrical specifications. Capable of developing industry-specific OEM training and certifications.
- Good customer service and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good organization and time management skills. Capable of developing the ability to manage multiple service and project work requests.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
What is the work schedule?
- Our team focuses on a healthy work life balance.
- Will be required to work away from home and overnight as needed.
- When scheduled, 24-hours / 7-days a week on-call availability required for service calls.
