Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Sales & Service, the Field Sales Representative will work alongside existing Customer Account Managers (CAMs) to learn all aspects of being a member of the sales team.  You will be engaged in assisting members/customers in weed identification and disease infestations in the field and assisting them in the selection of the best fit products and services to meet their needs. This will include working on farm with customers, with Team Leads & Sales Reps (CAM 1, 2 & 3) and Operations Staff inside UFA’s stores and service yards. While partnering with a specific mentor/coach, you will focus on learning the CAM role and providing customer service with targeted customers.

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Implement joint calls with experienced CAMs to gain customer service experience and an understanding of job responsibilities.
  • Consistently provide quality field service and assistance to UFA’s customers in a friendly and courteous manner, either in person or over the phone.
  • Create demand for UFA products and services at the local store where customers do business. This will mean working with a variety of staff at different stores. Ensure that all generated sales leads are fulfilled and executed in such a manner to deliver outstanding service to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, by understanding customers farm/ranch operations and needs.
  • Maintain customer and farm profile data to support their in-store sales and customer selling processes.

 

Qualifications required for the position:

  • Minimum 1 year of previous customer service experience. Previous sales experience in crop and livestock production would be an asset.
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary education program with a focus in Agriculture or a relevant business field is an asset.
  • A strong desire to learn the Crop Input business at UFA, and a willingness to engage in educational courses and learning opportunities with the eventual goal of moving into a full Customer Account Manager role at UFA
  • Valid Class 5 license, as travel will be required to complete customer sales calls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, with a willingness to learn to use Customer Relationship Management tools.
  • Agricultural or farm background would be an asset.
  • Excellent telephone, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer care and service commitment.
  • Good organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Baseline understanding of the agriculture market and business.
  • A strong commitment to customer and a demonstrated ability to work independently.
