Position Summary:
The Operations Business Analyst partners closely with Farm Supply and Petroleum Operations leadership to drive operational excellence through data-driven insights and performance analysis. This role is responsible for identifying trends, uncovering opportunities for improvement, conducting root cause analysis, and providing actionable recommendations that enhance operational performance across the network.
Leveraging data analytics, reporting tools, and performance metrics, the Operations Business Analyst helps leaders make informed decisions, improve operational consistency, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Analyze operational performance across all Farm Supply and Petroleum Operations locations using data-driven insights and key performance indicators.
- Proactively monitor operational data to identify performance exceptions, emerging trends, operational gaps, and potential risks.
- Conduct root cause analyses to identify underlying drivers of operational challenges and performance variances.
- Develop forecasting models and predictive analytics to anticipate business trends, operational needs, and potential risks.
- Partner with operational leaders to develop data-driven recommendations, implement improvement initiatives, and measure their effectiveness.
- Evaluate and enhance performance measurement frameworks by leveraging historical trends, current performance, and forecasted data to improve decision-making and operational outcomes.
- Support operational excellence by monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators related to Safety, Standards, Sales, Service, and Performance, including adherence to regulatory and operational compliance standards
- Manage and maintain operational dashboards to ensure data accuracy and relevance.
- Measure and communicate performance against established KPIs.
- Monitor operational metrics and provide meaningful commentary and insights to leadership.
- Identify and prioritize Power BI reporting requirements based on operational needs.
- Collaborate with Operations stakeholders, the analyst team, and the Power BI development team to define reporting solutions.
- Support dashboard enhancements and continuous improvement of business intelligence tools.
- Ensure reporting aligns with business priorities and enables effective decision-making.
- Build strong working relationships with Operations leaders to understand business challenges and priorities.
- Provide coaching insights and data-driven recommendations that support operational decision-making.
- Present findings, trends, and recommendations to leadership in a clear and actionable manner.
- Act as a trusted advisor in the use of operational data to improve performance.
- Performance measurements across Farm Supply and Petroleum Operations.
- Weekly and monthly operational reporting, through exception analysis.
- Dashboard governance, oversight, and continuous improvement.
- Trend identification and root cause analysis.
- Action plan development, tracking, and follow-up.
- Compliance and operational standards monitoring.
- Support of Power BI reporting roadmap and development priorities.
- Delivery of insights that improve Safety, Standards, and Service outcomes that drive sales and team performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or commerce. Majoring in analytics, finance, operations management, or related discipline.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Technical Requirement: Analytics Certificate (or working towards) would be considered an asset
- Competency in leveraging AI to develop and analyze models is an asset.
- 7–10 years progressive experience in business analytics, operations analysis, or performance management.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience interpreting operational KPIs and translating data into actionable business insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence operational leaders.
- Experience working in retail, petroleum, agriculture, or multi-site operations is considered an asset.
