Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Procurement, the Procurement Specialist plays an integral role in the execution of the procurement strategy, inventory management, product transfers, sourcing and transactional accuracy for Agribusiness. The Procurement Specialist also plays an active role in process and system improvements within procurement and in collaboration with internal business partners.

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with the Product Strategy Merchants to understand and support the inventory and sales strategy related to a specific portfolio of goods.
  • Effectively manage procurement activities for material requests by working closely with suppliers to ensure customers receive product in accordance with their expectations.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Work directly with internal business partners and suppliers to manage requests in a timely manner.
  • Work with business partners in determining supplier strategy and savings opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Finance to investigate and resolve accounts payable issues pertaining to price discrepancies, product shortages and/or receipt of damaged goods.
  • Responsible for replenishment management, set and maintain replenishment settings, exception monitoring, vendor performance.
  • Continually evaluate procurement options to achieve improved inventory management: right product, right place, right time and in the correct quantity to maximize customer satisfaction and sales performance.
  • Develop and execute inventory rebalancing initiatives within area of responsibility.
  • Work with business partners to assess vendor performance and make recommendations on strategic sourcing opportunities.

Qualifications required for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or diploma in agriculture or business-related field preferred and/or a combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years of business experience. Preference given to those with a strong knowledge of agriculture. 
  • Completion of procurement or supply chain management designation (SCMP, CIPS) would be an asset.
  • Superior organizational skills; ability to set and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to form strong team-based relationships with internal customers.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Effective negotiation, facilitation and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of materials management software/databases.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft D365 is an asset.
