Job Summary:

 

As UFA continues to invest in both new and existing markets, we are building a dedicated team to lead the delivery of large-scale agribusiness and petroleum capital projects. The Project Manager will play a key role in delivering on this strategic growth.

 

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Capital Project Implementation, the Project Manager will oversee the successful execution of capital projects typically exceeding $5 million in implementation costs, including managing large greenfield and brownfield site developments, across UFA’s diverse lines of business. This role involves navigating high levels of technical and organizational complexity, so the ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of communication, leadership, and process-driven thinking, with a commitment to accountability and stakeholder engagement.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Lead project execution by managing resources, stakeholder expectations, and project activities in alignment with the project management plan. Monitor scope, cost, quality, and schedule, and adjust plans as needed to ensure successful delivery.
  • Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables in partnership with project sponsors to ensure clarity of purpose and obligations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders—including Construction Project Managers, IT, regional operations, marketing, real estate, and business unit leaders—to develop and maintain capital budgets, timelines, and commissioning plans.
  • Recommend workstream prioritization to support strategic implementation of projects
  • Coordinate and support cross-functional project teams, establishing clear roles and responsibilities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement effective communication strategies to ensure timely and accurate information sharing across all stakeholder groups. Prepare and distribute regular status reports.
  • Proactively manage project changes, risks, issues, and decisions. Facilitate resolution, escalate when necessary, and document key decisions and mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the primary interface with project stakeholders and executive sponsors, applying strong leadership to remove obstacles and resolve conflicts.
  • Present project plans, progress updates, and key performance metrics to senior leadership.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
  • PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of project management experience, including 5 years leading complex projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk, issue, decision, and change management.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g. SAP Project System, MS Project) and related tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
