Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Sr. Financial Analyst - Corporate is responsible for providing financial and analytical expertise to UFA. The incumbent involved ensures the accurate and timely presentation of financial reports and are also responsible for key corporate accounting activities related to UFA’s equity, member loans, dividend, and patronage. The position is also responsible for payroll accounting and for providing ad-hoc financial analyses as requested by leaders across the support functions.

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Review monthly management reporting pack, flash reporting, variance analysis, cash flow analysis, financial statements, and commentary.
  • Review and provide corporate accounting approvals for processing patronage runs, investment share dividends, member loan interest payments and loan roll over.
  • Review and reconcile member equity balances. Approve equity withdrawals.
  • Support the Corporate Accounting Manager in the interim and year end audit process.
  • Responsible for month end reconciliations and for preparing accurate and timely financial reports pertaining to payroll accounts.
  • Support external auditor requests, maintaining working paper files for audit purposes.
  • Prepare and post accruals for various payroll related expenses.
  • Review, trace, and understand account codes, cost objects on payroll accounting transactions.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis for payroll expenses as requested by the leadership.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports pertaining to payroll expenses.
  • Work with payroll group to ensure that proper controls and checks are in place.
  • Think critically about the existing processes and identify opportunities for automation/improvements.

 

Qualifications required for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA, MBA, or equivalent designation.
  • More than 7 years of relevant accounting experience; experience with report development and financial modeling.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP and Power BI as well as the ability and desire to acquire knowledge of other relevant systems.
  • Strong analytical, communication and critical thinking skills along with a strong attention to detail.
  • Relationship, team building and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong results/goal orientation.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Experience with the payroll processes or accounting will be an asset.
