Position Summary:

 

The Sr. Manager, Corporate Accounting plays a critical leadership role in overseeing financial reporting and ensuring the integrity of accounting processes, policies, and systems.  Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role is responsible for analyzing complex financial information and delivering actionable insights to senior stakeholders.

 

This strategic position requires a proactive leader who builds strong cross-functional partnerships, anticipates evolving industry and economic trends, and drives continuous improvement in financial operations.  As a people leader, they will foster a results-oriented culture built on trust, development and accountability.

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

 

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes. Prepare and deliver reports to executive leadership and the Audit Committee. Manage external audit engagements and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements.
  • Oversee the accounting processes, policies, and systems to ensure timely, complete, and accurate financial transactions in alignment with internal policies, accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS), and regulatory requirements. Maintain robust internal controls and risk mitigation practices.
  • Perform in-depth modeling and analysis of financial data, trends, and performance metrics. Provide strategic decision support for capital investments, business cases, and special initiatives. Communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead the planning and forecasting processes in partnership with business leaders. Ensure alignment with strategic objectives, address variances, and drive accountability. Oversee the development of planning templates and consolidated financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes. Champion technology-driven solutions including automation and self-serve reporting using ERP and BI tools (e.g., SAP, D365, Power BI).
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of finance professionals. Foster an inclusive, respectful, and accountable work environment where people thrive and grow.

 

Qualifications required for this position:

 

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA)
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience in mid- to large-sized organizations
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience, with a proven ability to develop and engage teams
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes and financial systems (SAP/D365/Power BI).  Advanced experience with MS-Office.
  • Expertise in ASPE and/or IFRS
  • Familiarity with the Petroleum and/or Agriculture industries is an asset
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence and align diverse stakeholder
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing priorities and a fast-paced environment
