Job Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Distribution Centre, the Warehouse Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing daily operations within a designated shift across all functional areas of the 150 000 sq. ft. warehouse, including Indoor, Outdoor, and AWSA-certified Chemical Room environments. This position is responsible for ensuring operational excellence in a high-volume, fast-paced setting by leading a team of Shipper/Receivers, a Lead Hand, and collaborating closely with Warehouse Administrators. The Supervisor is expected to model accountability, foster a culture of ownership and pride, and drive continuous improvement across all warehouse functions. The work environment includes a 150,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility, featuring a 15,000 sq. ft. AWSA-certified agrichemical section. Operations are subject to seasonal peaks, particularly from April to October, with increased activity in the yard and building depot areas. Supervision is shift-based, with specific focus on functional areas to ensure smooth and efficient operations throughout the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate warehouse activities including receiving, shipping, order picking, staging, and inventory control to meet daily operational targets with efficiency and accuracy.
- Establish and enforce clear expectations regarding policies, procedures, and safety standards; promptly address performance and behavioral issues.
- Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to develop a proactive, solution-oriented team culture.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure service level objectives are consistently achieved.
- Lead seasonal operations, including the structures (building depot) business, ensuring readiness and execution during peak periods.
- Collaborate with Inventory Control personnel to maintain accurate stock levels and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, layout optimization, and team effectiveness.
- Facilitate training and development opportunities for team members, including structured equipment operator training plans.
- Maintain effective communication across shifts, departments, and leadership to support seamless operational transitions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead with authority, fairness, and a results-oriented approach.
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory control processes.
- Experience managing operations in a fast-paced, high-volume setting with seasonal fluctuations.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a proven ability to influence team culture and morale.
Is a safety sensitive position as will be on site at UFA facilities and will be using UFA material handling equipment. The successful applicant will be required to pass (negative result) a drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment.
