Position Summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor is the frontline leader responsible for executing daily warehouse operations through direct leadership of Sr. Shipper/Receivers and Shipper/Receivers while actively managing workflow on the floor.

 

This role translates operational priorities into real-time decisions, directs work, and adjusts labour and resources to ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution across the shift. The Supervisor owns shift-level performance, including safety, service, productivity, and team behavior, delivering consistent results aligned to the assigned Warehouse Operations Manager and process flow.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily warehouse operations, directing Shipper/Receivers across receiving, picking, shipping, yard, and AWSA areas.
  • Own shift-level performance, ensuring targets for safety, service, productivity, and quality are achieved.
  • Maintain control of floor operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with standard work.
  • Make real-time operational decisions, adjusting labour, sequencing work, and reallocating resources to meet priorities.
  • Reinforce safety practices and regulatory compliance through active supervision and immediate intervention.
  • Monitor performance continuously, resolving operational issues and escalating systemic constraints as required.
  • Coach and support team members, reinforcing expectations and accountability for individual and team performance.

 

Decision-Making Scope

  • Assign work, direct tasks, and control workflow during the shift
  • Adjust labour and sequencing in real time to meet operational priorities
  • Resolve day-to-day operational issues impacting execution
  • Enforce safe work practices and intervene immediately when required
  • Escalate system, capacity, or safety issues beyond shift-level control

 

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead Shipper/Receivers, ensuring clarity of work, expectations, and priorities
  • Coach team members on safety, performance, and working standards, addressing issues in real time
  • Reinforce a safe, respectful, and accountable team environment on the floor
  • Monitor and manage team performance, addressing gaps and recognizing strong execution
  • Model expected behaviors through active presence and engagement in operations

 

Qualifications:

Education / Experience

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent warehouse experience
  • 3–5 years of warehouse or distribution centre experience, including frontline leadership
  • Experience supervising teams in a fast-paced, shift-based environment

 

Leadership & Operational Capability

  • Proven ability to lead teams, direct work, and manage performance in real time
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations (receiving, picking, shipping, yard)
  • Ability to make quick decisions under pressure and maintain workflow control

 

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of WMS systems (SAP EWM/WM preferred)
  • Ability to interpret operational data and KPIs to manage shift performance

 

Other Requirements

  • Certified and capable of safely operating material handling equipment (as required)
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts, including evenings or nights

  • Shift performance against targets (safety, service, quality, and productivity)
  • On-time completion of daily workload and adherence to operational priorities
  • Effective labour utilization and workflow control during the shift
  • Safety adherence and incident-free execution on shift
  • Team performance consistency (reduced errors, rework, and variability)
