Position Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Sales and Service, Livestock, the Warehouse Supervisor - Livestock is responsible for the efficient operation of the Warehouse. The position is responsible for, but not limited to health and safety, operations, administration, of the warehouse and yard. The position holder oversees the effective unloading of incoming orders, ensures storage in proper location and appropriate paperwork flow for receiving accuracy. This role also oversees the effective staging of outgoing orders and to ensure appropriate paperwork flow for picking accuracy.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Oversee all inbound and outbound shipments. Supervise all ship confirmations for outgoing orders and picking. Ensure the correct flow of paperwork for all shift functions.
- Oversee all picking and packing of outgoing orders.
- Supervise all duties pertaining to order picking.
- Oversee programs to include Health and Safety management programs, internal and external audit performance, overall sanitation of the Warehouse and Yard.
- Responsible for operational efficiency in both the warehouse and yard operations.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators and, when necessary, adjust processes to meet organizational expectations.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy to ensure warehouse is at operational performance.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for all warehouse processes.
- Collaborate with the livestock deliver drivers and align warehouse resources to meet departure. expectation of all outbound loads and arrival expectation of all inbound loads.
- Effective use of the inventory system ensuring physical counts match the system counts.
- Liaison with Information Technology to ensure warehouse management system capabilities align with the customer service and productivity expectations.
- Liaison with Engineering and Fleet services to ensure the facility and materials handling equipment are always safe and efficient.
- Support Asset Protection and align warehouse process to meet inventory management expectation including support cycle counts and annual inventory counts.
- Oversee the warehouse team, ensuring effective performance management, smooth operations, adherence to health and safety standards, and efficient scheduling.
- Must be able to and willing to performance all warehouse tasks as needed.
- Operate all materials handling equipment. Adhere to all UFA safety regulations and loading and unloading procedures to ensure products are safely secured.
- Other duties as assigned to fit the business needs.
Qualifications required for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent in business or supply chain management.
- 5+ years related experience in a warehouse environment.
- Effective people leadership, communication and negotiating skills.
- Previous experience with Warehouse Management.
- Computer literacy, preferably in a PC environment.
- High level of innovative and motivational skills.
- Ability to operate in a rapidly changing environment with tight scheduling timeframes.
- Strong organizational skill, interpersonal and time-management skills.
- A Class 1 or Class3 driver’s license will be considered an asset.
- Forklift knowledge/experience.
- Dangerous Goods Handling knowledge.
- WHIMIS training.
- Capable of physical labour; capable of lifting up to 25 kg.
Is a safety sensitive position as will be on site at UFA facilities and will be using UFA material handling equipment. The successful applicant will be required to pass (negative result) a drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment.
