Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Technical Sales, the Agronomy Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise to support sales and execution of programs. The Specialist will assist in the enabling of the UFA network to grow sales of new and existing product lines. The position holder will be an in-house expert for agronomy. The role will be responsible for internal technical and product training, customer presentations, and preparing technical information to support sales and marketing.
This position can be located anywhere within the Central region.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced agronomic support to sales representatives.
- Translate technical insights into business recommendations for internal teams and customers.
- Foster customer loyalty through partnerships and technical consultations with key customers, as required, to support the sales process.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product and Sales Management as required including:
- Technical evaluation of new product and service opportunities.
- Provision and interpretation of technical information to support sales and marketing.
- Present to staff in training sessions and to customers at corporate and industry events such as trade shows and producer meetings.
- Analyze and interpret agronomic reports for key customers, providing tailored product recommendations.
- Maintain relationship with key University, industry, and association representatives.
- Performance will be measured on sales team performance in their respective Sales Region as well as through proprietary product sales and margin results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or equivalent required.
- Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) designation and/or CCA or equivalent required (must be eligible for CCA designation).
- More than 20 years’ experience in crop production and more than 15 years sales, marketing and/or technical support experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship to developing staff.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to write, develop and deliver key messages to customers, vendors, account managers, and product strategy managers.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are essential.
This is a safety sensitive position as it will be on site at UFA facilities and will be using UFA material handling equipment. The successful applicant will be required to pass (negative result) a drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment.
