Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Operations the Regional Manager - Operations is responsible for the operational performance and business growth within a designated geographical area. Ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, effectiveness, compliance with all Federal and Provincial laws, and the optimization of sales, margins and assets. The Regional Manager- Operations provides leadership and governance to Agents and Site Managers while driving business growth, through customer service excellence, operational excellence, safety, productivity, and profitability. This position requires developing and managing high-performance teams, safeguarding company assets, and ensuring the execution of corporate strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, develop, and manage the performance of Agents and Site Managers
- Champion the succession planning process by identifying skill gaps and developing career growth opportunities for team members.
- Lead, coach, and provide ongoing feedback to Site Managers in alignment with UFA's
Vision, Mission, and Values, and conduct annual performance appraisals to foster team
growth.
- Oversee the creation and execution of site business plans, sales, and revenue targets for operations.
- Manage price, margins, and expenses while optimizing assets and capital budgets.
- Collaborate with sales and service teams to ensure efficient delivery of products and services.
- Align with corporate strategies to ensure growth and market share expansion.
- Ensure the effective implementation of corporate initiatives and change management strategies.
- Drive operational efficiencies by managing demand forecasting, inventory management, and asset protection.
- Lead the budgeting process within the region, ensuring all sites meet or exceed financial targets.
- Maintain and recommend reinvestment in assets/capital projects for continuous operational improvements.
- Champion health and safety programs and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and standards.
- Foster a culture of safety through coaching, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Manage relationships with Agents and maintain contractual agreements, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Collaborate with Regional Managers- Operations, to share best practices, ensuring consistency across the business.
- Act as a key liaison between corporate offices and field teams, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with category managers to optimize inventory levels, ensuring customer demands are met.
- Safeguard company assets, working independently or with corporate shared services to maintain efficiency and financial returns.
- Represent the company at local and cooperative events, reinforcing the brand's values and commitment to the community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, agriculture, or related fields. Equivalent business experience of 12+ years in progressive management roles is required.
- Leadership experience characterized by innovation, creativity and ability to work co-operatively. Agriculture and Downstream Fuel experience considered advantageous.
- Proven track record in leadership and managing large geographically disbursed teams.
- A strong understanding of inventory management, operational efficiency, and customer service.
- Superior organizational, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and other relevant business software.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
- Agriculture or Petroleum industry experience is a strong asset.
- This is a safety sensitive position as will be on site at UFA facilities and will be using UFA material handling equipment. The successful applicant will be required to pass (negative result) a drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment.
